I recently got up with Stylist/Fashion writer Mary Egbula of The Fashion Cult to do a shoot inspired by sheer pastel fabrics.
We gathered Clothing and Models: Sable Simone, Kelsi Holt, Kola Champagne, and Heidi Hypnotique–Brilliant Models, a joy to work with!
We shot in the studio as I’ve been inclined to do for sometime now for all the control of light possible.
I used what I refer to as Doughnut lighting where there is a ring flash…Kinda like a doughnut, and a spot in the center, kinda like the Jam in the middle.
Each model had their own unique personality….well, most people do,
….but when you are shooting, each personality shines through undenyably.
I had such a great time shooting with this team and I’d like to introduce you to them and sa y a few words about each.
EightyJane A.K.A Mary Egbula
Mary Egbula, A.KA. EightyJane is a fashion writer and stylist here in the ATL.
She hails from The Mother land, specifically Nigeria. She is the founder of the website ‘TheFashionCult‘ and is also the Atlanta Fashion Photography Examiner for The Examiner website.
But fear not, The Fashion Cult is not some crazed, ape-shit, suicide pact taking group of lunatics! Rather, it’s a place where discorse on the love of fashion, it’s culture, it’s stars, maladies and it’s future takes place.

EightyJane is a pleasure to work with, a good communicator and has that offhanded skill when styling that lets you know that she’s been doing this for a while and will be for some time to come….
Only Kola, as I knew her when we first met, is a wonderful mix of different cultures which is evident by her startling features and cosmopolitan nature. Kola is also a joy to work with. She’s polite and punctual and always wears those two most important accessories– a platinum smile and Gold Embossed confidence. If you don’t have those two essentials in your bag, don’t bother entering the studio.
For real.
Kola has good energy and lots of it! She’s always into something, always keeping busy, promoting, modeling, traveling, shes a Spokes Model, Violinist, Designer, Thespian– I wouldn’t be surprised to see her pop up in a movie or get into politics fighting for the rights of the poor and under-served!
Kola hails from The Big Apple, and can be found either here in the Atl or somewhere on the planet globe trotting.
Kelsi_holt
Kelsi Holt is a Goth Princess living life out loud and without apology. Shes an Artist and a Model and according to her FaceBook profile, she likes painting ugly animals…I wonder if she’s tried the duckbilled platypus….
Rumour has it that Kelsi is also an Actress, copping herself a part in the movie ‘Mean Girls 2′!

- Heidi Hypnotique
Heidi Hypnotique is multitalented also. She models and makes music too, her music is in the genre of..wait for it–
Genre: Trip Hop/Drum & Bass/Dubstep/Hypnotherapeutic
She works closely with an other multitalented artist in Atlanta, Tai Upgrade Rotan who handles the instrumentals and production behind Heidi’s lyrics and vocals. Its rumoured that Heidi hails from Orions Belt….i’m inclined to believe it.
I never worked with or even seen Heidi without Kelsi, its been whispered in speak easy’s that they are bff’s. I met them a whiles back when shooting for the Oxossi clothing line, called upon them later for a lighting test and then once more for the Cotton Candy shoot. That maybe only three times, but I’ve met folks who I’d never call back once let alone twice. These ladies are down. They are easy going with an individual sense of style–they are always punctual!!!
Three exclamation marks because I recently found out that both of them live in Tennessee! I’ve had morons who live down the street show up two hours late!
And in the end, they never hound me for photos three days after shooting because they have things to do! They stay busy, if not just active! I’ve gotten alot of good photos because of them and ah hope to get a lot more in the future.
Sable_Simone
Sable Simone is…well, an internet superstar and an outstanding model. I’ve worked with Sable Simone on a number of projects and not only was it a pleasure each time, but it was also a pleasure for everyone else working with her. She’s a good communicator and she’s so jovial that you just can’t help smiling. She seems to be down to try anything but she also seems to have respectable bounderies. Sable is the youngest of five girls and got into the performing arts at an early age being cast in several musicals in the Chicago area. She began runway modeling in her freshman year of school. She has undoubtable confidence and knows how to rock what ever you put on her….I think ah’ll be trying the potato sack dress on her once I get it made!
